Dumpster Rental in Aurora, CO
Dumpster Rental in Aurora
Aurora is home: our yard is on Moline Street in north-west Aurora, in the Adams County part of the city, close to I-70 and I-225. This corner is where Aurora began. The town of Fletcher was laid out in 1891 from Yosemite Street east to Peoria Street and from 6th to 26th Avenue, and renamed Aurora in 1907. In our own ZIP, 80010, the median home was built in 1964 and 43 percent before 1960, about half of them single-family houses and most of the rest in apartment and other multi-unit buildings, so the work is clean-outs, rental turnovers and remodels on older brick homes. Close by, the Anschutz Medical Campus on the old Fitzsimons Army hospital site adds apartments and institutional work.
Go east and south-east and Aurora is a different city. Saddle Rock, Tallyn’s Reach and Southlands along E-470 at Smoky Hill Road, Murphy Creek, and the new streets in the north-east around the Aurora Highlands are mostly single-family homes built since 2000, where a 20 or 30-yard usually fits on the driveway for remodels, move-ins, landscaping and new-build cleanup. The Census counted 386,261 people in 2020 and about 410,000 in 2025. A call before noon usually gets a same-day drop anywhere in the city. One rule to know first: Aurora does not allow dumpsters on the public street, so it goes on the drive.

Aurora is plain about the street. The City’s trash and recycling page says: “No, storage pods and dumpsters are not allowed on the public street. These items may be considered for placement on private property, including driveways, through the city’s Temporary Use Permit program.” City Code § 94-106 also makes it unlawful to place anything in a sidewalk, street, alley or highway that obstructs it, and under the general penalty in § 1-13 that can mean a fine of up to $2,650, up to 364 days in jail, or both, with each day a separate offense. So in Aurora the container goes on your driveway or lot. The City does not publish a time limit for a driveway container, or say that every one needs a permit; its wording is that placement “may be considered” through the Temporary Use Permit program, whose application fee is $85.25, and we check with the Permit Center (15151 East Alameda Parkway, Suite 2400, 303-739-7420) when a job may need one. On a building site, § 114-34 makes the owner or contractor keep litter from piling up and lets the City ask for proof of proper disposal. The City does not collect household trash at all: every home must have weekly service from a City-licensed hauler, arranged by the resident, HOA or building manager, and the City publishes no bulk-item pickup. A demolition, full or partial, is a $402 flat-rate permit at the Permit Center.
Aurora dumpster rental questions
- Is a permit needed for a dumpster in Aurora?Aurora does not allow dumpsters or storage pods on the public street, and City Code § 94-106 bars obstructing streets, alleys and sidewalks (up to $2,650 and/or 364 days). Driveway or private-property placement “may be considered” through the City’s Temporary Use Permit program ($85.25 application; Permit Center, 303-739-7420).
- Can you deliver a dumpster the same day in Aurora?Usually, yes. Our yard is on Moline Street in north-west Aurora, close to I-70 and I-225, so most of the city is a short run. Call before noon and we will aim for a same-day drop; the far south-east around Southlands and Aurora Reservoir is about 14 miles out, so call early there.
- Can the dumpster go on the street in front of my house? No. The City says dumpsters and storage pods are not allowed on the public street, so it goes on your driveway or lot. If your drive is short, a 10 or 15-yard fits more easily; send us a photo and we will check before the truck comes. More in our Aurora dumpster permit guide.
- Does the City pick up bulk items or remodel debris? No. Aurora does not collect household trash at all: every home must have weekly service from a City-licensed hauler, arranged by the resident, HOA or building manager, and the City publishes no bulk-item pickup. For a remodel or clean-out, a roll-off is the simple route; see our residential dumpster rental page.
